Reminder COVID-19 Vaccinations are Covered for CHIP Enrollees

CHIP follows AAP’s vaccination recommendations.

The Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in Pennsylvania has received inquiries from stakeholders concerning the coverage of the COVID-19 vaccine for children, as a result of changes at the federal level.

Important: CHIP adheres to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) vaccination recommendations for COVID-19: 

The AAP recommends coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination for all infants, children, and adolescents 6 months of age and older who do not have contraindications to receiving a COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use for their age. 

CHIP will continue to cover COVID-19 vaccines for all enrollees.

Highmark’s General Vaccine Policy

Highmark has not changed our vaccine coverage or medical policies on vaccinations. Members should be always consulting with their physician about personal health care needs, including vaccines for themselves or their children.
