Prior Auth Letters Going Digital in January 2027

For: Professional Providers

Highmark will communicate prior authorization decisions via the Availity Essentials Digital Correspondence Hub beginning in late January 2027. This means no more mailed determination letters.

Instead, you’ll have instant access to critical prior auth information directly from Availity’s digital hub.

This upgrade streamlines communication, enabling you to view determinations and supporting documentation quickly and easily.

Note: This change will not affect the auth submission process or ability to check auth status in Availity.

How to Access the Digital Correspondence Hub

Upon logging into Availity and selecting your health plan, you’ll be able to navigate to the Digital Correspondence Hub from the homepage.

If you already have access to these types of communications with other payers, you’ll have to wait until late January to view Highmark communications in the Digital Correspondence Hub.

All providers are automatically opted in to receive digital communications for prior auth determination letters.
