Highmark Inc. and Blue KC Receive Regulatory Approval for Affiliation

We are pleased to announce that Highmark Inc. and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC) in the Kansas City, MO region have received regulatory approval to affiliate.

The Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance approved the move on March 17, 2026, with the official closing of the agreement between Highmark and Blue KC expected on March 31, 2026.

Under the affiliation originally announced in December 2025, Blue KC will continue to operate as a not-for-profit company in Kansas City, maintaining its local leadership, trusted brand, and commitment to accessible and affordable health care for its members and the community it serves for years to come.
