Delaware Mandate – Allergenic Protein Dietary Supplement Coverage

Delaware House Bill No. 274 mandates that insurers cover one prescribed early egg and one prescribed early peanut allergenic protein dietary supplement for infants less than one year old for fully insured individual, small group, and large group policies issued on or after Jan. 1, 2026.

Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware covers Lil Mixins™ Early Allergen Introduction Peanut Powder Mix-in and Lil Mixins Early Allergen Introduction Egg Powder Mix-in. 

For reimbursement, members must submit:

  1. A completed paper Claim Form. Under the Diagnosis or Nature of Illness or Injury section, specify "early egg allergen introduction dietary supplement" and/or "early peanut allergen introduction dietary supplement."
  2. A receipt showing payment for the supplement(s).
  3. A provider prescription for the supplement(s).
