Authorization Enhancements: Improving the Search Experience in Predictal

Effective Aug. 22, 2026, Highmark has rolled out two enhancements that improve the search experience in the Predictal Auth Automation Hub, making it easier and quicker to find key authorization information:

1. Search Functionality by NPI (National Provider Identifier)
2. Facility/Vendor Free Standing Option

1. Search Functionality by NPI

This enhancement expands Authorization Inquiry search capabilities, allowing providers to search by:

• Requesting NPI
• Rendering/Servicing NPI
• Member ID
• Authorization ID

The enhanced search functionality makes it easier for providers to locate authorization status information directly within Predictal. Instead of searching strictly by tax ID or BSID, providers now have additional search options that lead to quicker, more useful results.

This upgrade will especially benefit providers who did not submit the auth request but are listed as rendering/servicing provider or facility. Using this enhanced search functionality enables providers to avoid making phone inquiries, saving time and effort.

2. Facility/Vendor Free Standing Option

This enhancement introduces a Free Standing Vendor radio button within the Facility/Vendor section and updates search logic to:

• Improve facility/vendor matching
• Display NPI, provider/facility name, and address consistently

This upgrade is expected to facilitate electronic authorization submissions for organizations that may function as both a practice group and servicing facility (for example, imaging and radiology clinics). Many of these requests are currently submitted through phone or fax due to matching limitations.
